HYUN (b. 1997, Seoul, South Korea) is a Brooklyn-based painter who received her BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design (2020) and her MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute (2025). Her layered abstractions explore the tension between system and accident, form and gesture, control and release. Working with unconventional materials, she engages the masculine and feminine languages of abstraction to test the idea of freedom within constraint.
